How Smart CTC works

  • Clean Truck Check device plugs into your truck's OBD port (splitter cable provided). The device runs a Clean Truck Check test on a schedule based on your truck's requirements.
  • No scheduling, ever. Forget the calendar logistics of 2× per year (and 4× per year starting Oct 2027) testing.
  • Subscription pricing. One affordable per-vehicle rate, locked in. All yearly tests included, plus retests after failed tests.
  • Coverage. The device works across the US, Canada, and Mexico in areas with good cellular connection.
  • Full support. Have any trouble with testing or your CTC-VIS account? Email, text, or call the Smart CTC team and they'll help you out.
  • Ability to clear codes. Email or text the Smart CTC team to request a code clear if you have an engine light on. It won't help pass a test if something on the truck actually needs fixing, but it can resolve ghost codes and minor issues.
  • Who determines the test result. The device doesn't pass or fail the Clean Truck Check. It transmits data to CARB; CARB issues the result and it shows up immediately in your CTC-VIS account under "Test Results". If a truck fails, the fault codes appear on the same page when you click "Fail". After repairs are made or codes are cleared, email or text the Smart CTC team and they'll re-run the test remotely at no additional charge.
